Saving Money...

My big goal for this week is to try and find places or ideas to save money! My husband has one year left in school and I really want to further stretch our income....But seriously who doesn't want that anyway!?!?! So please comment on any ways you save money in your house! I am even hoping you share the craziest ideas because who doesn't love a challenge? Thanks in advance!

Transforming Prayer by Daniel Henderson (4/5 stars)

Transforming Prayer was a good book all in all. There are really great points on how to "spice up" your prayer life. His reference to the "grocery list" of needs was REALLY eye opening! I attend church every Wednesday night for prayer meeting and it's funny because I now know what I have been missing! Totally and completely revitalized my prayer life. Daniel Henderson really digs deep into the heart and shows you what needs changing to really seek God's face and worship Him in prayer! The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because sometimes it get a little repetitious and I was saying " OK I got the point, lets move on." In all honestly though that may be for people who really NEVER learned to pray, and that would make it understandable. :)

I would like to thank Bethany House for graciously providing a free copy of this book. No positive review was expected and the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

HI!

Wow its been A LONG TIME since I have been on here! I ALWAYS make plans to blog but I get discouraged because I think people wouldn't care what I had to say. Great news though I am going to HAVE to blog because I am going to be doing book reviews for Bethany House. See, no excuse now! Now just waiting on my first book.

Well it's been sonce July since I have had a post, so what has been going on since then? Well, my 7 and 5 year old accepted Christ two Sundays ago! Never in a million years would I have thought they would be so young... It's great because I feel like we have been doing our job as parents ;) Oh and of course because God is GREAT!

In November my great friend and mentor passed away from cancer. She was an AMAZING woman and took great care of me when my parents divorced when I was a teen. Also, when I became pregnant at 19 she was always there to help me pick up the pieces of my sinful life... Around the same time as her death our transmission was going out in our van and the heat in our car quit working (not great with Indiana winters). To make a long story short she left me her 2006 Ford Explorer! I also won't have to worry about college for my girls! I will miss her terribly, but I know I will get to see her again someday. Funny how she is still taking care of me even though she is gone.

I am starting this new year on a positive note. I have started a home planner, restarting Financial Peace, reading the bible cover to cover, and many other things. Hope everyone is doing well and God willing i'll be back blogging consistantly!

Church

We decided a few weeks ago to go back to our "old" church. The reasons we stopped going 2 years ago were very selfish and REALLY dumb.... Not going to go into detail because it's pretty embarrassing now.

After we left the "old" pastor had an opportunity to go somewhere else so for awhile the church didn't have a pastor. Now they do! He came to visit us a few times just to talk at our house. Never pushy, never asked why just always invited us to come out. We decided to try it out again. We LOVED it there before.

We have been going here and there with friends/with people who have invited us. It never felt like home to Chris and I. There are so many excuses why we could never settle anywhere..... Again embarrassing to publish. We would try to compromise on things we wanted out of church and my husband's firm on HYMNS. He does not like contemporary christian music. PERIOD. That is a deal breaker for him. Doesn't matter what the pastor is like or etc. His other deal breaker is that the bible of choice is the KJV. There are many many more, but those are the 2 "BIG" ones for him. So to make a long story short why were we looking for a different church when Ormas was the one all along? It had/is everything we want/need.

You would have thought we never left because EVERYONE welcomed us back with VERY OPEN ARMS! I never realized the weight I was carrying through this "sabbatical." I feel free now. Like nothing can bring me down. Funny how God works like that. The problem is solved!

The pastor is really great. He has a wonderful sense of humor, but also serious and to the point. He brings life into the bible that really makes sense to me. I feel like he knows everything I want to ask/say and answers them in a way that makes me think the sermons are for me. Chris feels the same way. The girls love it and are looking forward to Sundays again. That I am thankful for.
